Post Cereals Website
Note: Post was owned by General Foods, which was bought by Philip Morris --- now known as Altria Group, in 1985. Philip Morris also bought Kraft in 1988 and merged Kraft with General Foods in 1989. Kraft General Foods acquired Nabisco in 1993 and folded it's cold ready-to-eat cereals into its Post Cereals subsidiary. Kraft General Foods was renamed Kraft Foods in 1993. In March 2007 Altria spun-off Kraft Foods as its own publicly traded company and a year later Kraft sold its Post Cereals division to Ralcorp.

In February, 2012, Post Foods was spun-off from Ralston and became an independent company again. But wait, there's more! In November 2012, Conagra bought Ralcorp. In 2016 Conagra turned around and sold Ralcorp along with Conagra's private brands operations to Treehouse Foods. In June 2021, Post bought the RTE (Ready To Eat) cereal business (which includes the Ralcorp private branded cereals) from Treehouse Foods.

Nabisco Holdings
7 Campus Drive
Parsippany, NJ 07054
(201) 682-5000
Nabisco Website
Note: In 1981, Nabisco merged with Standard Brands to form Nabisco Brands. In 1985, Nabisco Brands merged with R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company to form RJR Nabisco. In 1993, Kraft General Foods acquired the Nabisco cold cereals (including the Shredded Wheat line) from RJR Nabisco and folded them into it's cold ready-to-eat (RTE) cereals subsidiary (by the name of Post Cereals).

In 2000, Philip Morris Companies Inc. (now called Altria) acquired Nabisco (which by now was out of the RTE cereal business but still produced the Cream of Wheat, and Cream of Rice, hot cereals) and merged it with Kraft Foods. In 2007, Cream of Wheat was acquired by B&G Foods. In 2011, Kraft Foods announced that it was splitting into two companies --- a grocery company (which eventually became Kraft Heinz) and a snack food company (named Mondelez International). Nabisco became part of the snack-food business of Mondelez International and still makes the Cream of Rice line.

Ralcorp Holdings
(formerly: Ralston Purina Company)

800 Market Street
St. Louis, MO 63101
(314) 877-7000
Note: On January 31, 1997 Ralcorp Holdings sold their branded ready-to-eat cereal business to General Mills. This included its core Chex and Cookie Crisp brands, along with trademark and technology rights for these branded products; which left Ralcorp to focus on their private label brands operation (aka "store brands"). In August 2008, Ralcorp reentered the branded RTE (ready-to-eat) cereal market by purchasing Post Cereals from Kraft Foods.

In February 2012, Ralcorp spun off Post Cereals and then was itself acquired by Conagra in November 2012. In February 2016, Treehouse Foods bought Ralcorp from Conagra as part of the purchase of Conagra's private label brands business. Come June 2021, Post bought Ralcorp from Treehouse Foods. Ralcorp still makes private-label cereals, but they are now a subsidiary of Post Cereals.
