Winnie-the-Pooh for
Teachers and Educators

Children love Winnie-the-Pooh. The purpose of this page is to provide teachers and educators with ideas on how to include Winnie-the-Pooh in their lesson plans for students to make their web activities more fruitful and enjoyable.

Teacher's Internet Lesson Plans

IDEA #1: Students Learn about the Characters in the 100 Acre Woods
  1. Students are introduced to the characters by reading the book "Winnie-the-Pooh" and/or "The House at Pooh Corner" (both by A. A. Milne).
  2. Students learn more details about the characters by exploring the Winnie-the-Pooh Character Guide which is full of detailed information on every character. Select from icon, modern or classic images.
  3. Students compile a "book of facts" on their favorite character.
  4. Students can take part in three 15-question interactive Winnie-the-Pooh quizzes.
IDEA #2: Students Learn to Use the Internet for Research
  1. Students start by engaging in an interactive Poohsonality Test where they can find out which character is most like them, or students simply select a character they wish to know more about.
  2. Students begin their search by exploring the Winnie-the-Pooh Character Guide which is full of detailed information on every character. Select from icon, modern or classic images.
  3. Students can expand their search for more information by exploring the Winnie-the-Pooh FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions), or check out other Winnie the Pooh related sites found in Winnie-the-Pooh's Website Directory.
  4. Students can use Topher's Breakfast Cereal Character Guide to locate the three breakfast cereals that featured Winnie the Pooh.
  5. Students can take part in three 15-question interactive Winnie-the-Pooh quizzes.
Additional Activities Available
  1. Winnie-the-Pooh Mystery: an interactive story which allows the student to follow his own path toward solving the mystery of Eeyore's missing tail.
  2. Winnie-the-Pooh Word Search Puzzle: students locate 27 Winnie the Pooh related words in a honey pot shaped puzzle.
  3. Winnie-the-Pooh Crossword Puzzle: students solve a traditional crossword puzzle using clues about the characters they explored.
  4. If students can't locate an answer to a question that perplexes them and the class, encourage them to e-mail us at Topher. We will get them an answer. If they ask an especially good question, we'll add their question to the comprehensive Winnie-the-Pooh FAQ!
MORE IDEAS: Teacher Submissions!

Here are two great ideas from Jennie Bales, Teacher Librarian, at Summerdale Primary School in Launceston, Tasmania.
  1. 100 Aker Wood Birthday Party: six activities. You are helping to plan a party for Christopher Robin and his friends.
  2. 100 Aker Wood Portrait Gallery: six activities. You have been employed as an artist to draw a portrait of one of the inhabitants of the 100 Aker Wood.
