Jim West from Wild Wild West (TV) reads from Cowboy Thrill Magazine. The ad on the back page is for Tantalizing Tasties. According to one of our site visitors, "Back in the days before product placement, movie and TV characters would be seen reading nonexistent "prop" magazines or newspapers. (In other words, both the front and back cover were phony.) I've seen many actors, from Fred MacMurray in 40's movies to Yvonne de Carlo in "The Munsters," read prop magazines that always had a back cover ad for a cereal called Tantalizing Tasties. It was very 1930's style and looked especially old by the 60's." For more on Cowboy Thrill Magazine and the hunt for Tantalizing Tasty's, check out The Pulp.Net. |
