We have had a number of requests for recipes involving cereal.
Here are the most requested recipes.

Corn Flakes Holiday Wreath Kellogg's Corn Flakes Holiday Wreaths

1/3 Cup margarine
1 package (10oz., about 40) regular marshmallows
1 teaspoon green food coloring
6 Cups corn flakes
Red cinnamon candies
Vegetable cooking spray

  1. In a large saucepan, melt margarine over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted. Remove from heat. Stir in food coloring.
  2. Add corn flakes. Stir until well coated.
  3. Using 1/4-cup dry measure coated with cooking spray, evenly portion warm cereal mixture. Using buttered fingers, quickly shape into individual wreaths. Dot with cinnamon candies.
Makes 16 wreaths.

Kellogg's Rice Krispies Treats

3 tablespoons margarine
6 Cups Rice Krispies
1 package (10oz., about 40) regular marshmallows
Vegetable cooking spray

  1. Coat 13x9x2-inch pan with cooking spray.
  2. In a large saucepan, melt margarine over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted. Remove from heat.
  3. Add Rice Krispies. Stir until well coated.
  4. Using buttered spatula or waxed paper, press the mixture evenly into the pan. When cool, cut into 2-inch squares.
Makes 24 squares.

There are a number of variations on this recipe, including adding candy or nuts, chocolate, or peanut butter.

Chex Mix or Crispix Mix or "Chicken Feed"

1 box Kix
1 box Crispix (or Rice and Corn Chex)
1 box Wheat Chex or Bran Chex
1 box pretzels
2 lbs. mixed nuts
1/4 lb. to 1 lb. melted butter

  1. Pour all of the cereals into a very large bowl. Mix carefully so cereals do not crack. Place in a large roaster pan or two. Pour butter over mix, stirring well, but carefully.
  2. Toast at 200 degrees for 2 hours, stirring occasionally. Cool. Store in airtight containers.
This recipe has more variations than most. Here are a few...

Variation #1: Substitute 1 lb. of your favorite nut (like cashews) for 1 lb. of mixed nuts.
Variation #2: Instead of just melted butter, you can create a concoction consisting of 3 tbs. melted butter or magarine, 1/4 teaspoon garlic salt, 1/4 teaspoon onion salt, 2 teaspoons lemon juice, 4 teaspoons Worcestershire Sauce.
Variation #3: Sprinkle onion powder, garlic powder, or chili powder over mixture after adding melted butter.
Variation #4: Consider adding these items: Tidbits, Goldfish, or other favorite snacks and flavors to create your unique mix.
